CDTRP 11th Annual Scientific Meeting
Developing research partnerships with Indigenous peoples: an interactive workshop
This session focuses on how researchers can develop research and knowledge dissemination partnerships with First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. The learning objectives are:
-Provide an introduction to the distinct FNMI research and data sovereignty principles, including how to apply these to your research grants and projects;
-Provide training on how to build new partnerships with FNMI community partners, including how to determine which Indigenous community partner is suitable for your research project, which Indigenous person to approach when forming a research relationship with an Indigenous organization or community, and what to prepare before meeting with a potential Indigenous research partner;
-How to apply FNMI research and data principles to research development, data collection, storage of data, and knowledge dissemination, including understanding where persons with lived experience and Elders/knowledge keepers fit into these applications;
-How to write a research grant that includes Indigenous partners and research participants.
This workshop is limited to 12 participants. Participants who have project ideas that they wish to apply for funding for with an Indigenous community partner will be prioritized, however all CDTRP meeting participants are welcome.
